Exploring the challenges, opportunities and the future of Space Education in Europe

Report launch event, 29 March 2022 (10.00 – 12.00 CET), online

The future of the European space sector, including its performance, entrepreneurial mindset and capacity to innovate, strongly relies on an education system able to train a skilled workforce. Following the general trend of an ever more specialised education, new university programmes are emerging in Europe to train students in space engineering, law, public affairs or economy. In this context, education has become an important topic in the space policy debate and multiple initiatives were launched to promote space in academia.

ESPI is seeking to contribute to this effort by providing the space community with an up-to-date overview of the European space education landscape and with an analysis of trends and challenges in this domain. ESPI’s latest report, Space Education in Europe, is now available for download on ESPI’s website.

In the context of this project, ESPI is organising an online event aiming to give insights on the European space education landscape, as well as on challenges and opportunities of space education in Europe. The event will include the presentations of findings, and provide an opportunity for discussions about the future of Space Education.

Speakers (the list will continually be updated prior to the event):

  • Michaela Gitsch, Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG)
  • Luisa Santoro, Italian Space Agency (ASI)
  • A Representative from the European Space Agency (ESA)
