About this Evening Event:
The intensification of space activities worldwide, together with the emergence of new actors and disruptive concepts (e.g. miniaturized satellites, mega-constellations, in-orbit operations), create new challenges to ensure the safety and security of space systems and operations as well as the long-term sustainability of space activities.
Preparing for an increasing space activity has already led to space policy responses such as the U.S. Space Policy Directive-3, which calls for the establishment of an operational approach to space traffic management. Concerns are rising elsewhere, like in Europe, where stakeholders are starting to reflect on the relevance of a space traffic management framework.
During this evening event, organised by ESPI, two international speakers will address issues related to the concept of space traffic management. The subsequent panel discussion with the audience will provide a platform for exchange of views on this timely issue.
