With Brexit negotiations still underway, there is mounting pressure on the UK government to assess sectorial impacts across the board as well as to provide a strategy and negotiating position to protect jobs and the interests of British industry.

The UK space sector in particular has become a hot-topic for discussions as growing concerns over the UK’s access to and participation to European space projects is put into question - centring on EU-funded space programmes, such as Galileo, where security-related issues and the awarding of future contracts to the UK are clear roadblocks to overcome. So what are the implications of Brexit for the future of the UK space sector? This ESPI brief aims to outline and unpack some of the core problems faced by the UK space sector as Brexit negotiations unfold.
