The Observer Research Foundation (ORF) has been organising this annual policy dialogue in honour of Ms. Kalpana Chawla, the first Indian-American woman in space, with the aim of highlighting the success of India’s cooperation with all the major spacefaring powers and creating a global platform for exchanging views on the growing socio-political challenges on Earth that must still be overcome in order to expand on the example set by Ms. Chawla. The fifth edition of this annual space policy dialogue, held over two and half days and attended by more than 50 speakers from around the world, included twelve broad panels covering a wide range of topics as well as special lectures given by spotlight speakers.
The ESPI Director participated in the panel “Space Security” and delivered a keynote speech in the panel “Europe and India in Space”, during which the latest ESPI Report “Europe-India Space Cooperation: Policy, Legal and Business Perspectives from India” was released by the EU Ambassador to India Tomasz Kozlowski. ESPI Senior Fellow Marco Aliberti participated in the ensuing panel discussion providing an overview of the current status of Europe-India cooperation in space and an assessment of their future engagement potential.
